NuCamp 320 s Review
When I decided that retirement would mean traveling across the country in an RV, I spent well over a year researching options.
I spent countless hours watching YouTube videos and becoming Google’s best friend!
I knew certain requirements were not debatable:
Weight Limit - I owned a jeep that was supposed to tow up to 4500 pounds. It did not, but that’s another story! I wanted to stay under 2500 pounds.
I had to have a bathroom & shower.
I wanted a kitchen inside.
I did not want to put away the bed every day.
I was asking a lot for such a small camper. I was surprised that there were several choices. I picked out a few and started reading all the reviews and warranties. I even learned where and how they were made. I watched reviews on heating and air conditioning systems in RVs as well. If I was going to travel thousands of miles, I wanted to be able to trust that I would make it in one piece, and so would my RV.
The more I learned, the clearer the choice became. I knew without a doubt, I wanted a NuCamp 320S Boondock Series. It was perfect for me and checked off every box of my requirements.
Yes, they are more expensive than other brands for their size, but the quality can’t compare. I found a great deal in Ohio.
Let me tell you more about this little gem:
It is 15.3 feet long, under 8 feet tall, and a breeze to tow and maneuver. I’ve not had to worry about low bridges or where I can stop for gas, and I fit in all camping sites. The weight is less than 2000 pounds.
The Azdel wall is made of a composite material used in the construction to make it lightweight. It’s a durable material made from a combination of fiberglass and resin, designed to be water-resistant, resist mold and mildew, and help with insulation. Mold and mildew can be an issue with condensation in an RV, so this is a plus.
The kitchen has a sink, a 2-burner Dometic propane stove, and a 12-volt refrigerator with a small freezer. It keeps food as cold as a full-size refrigerator. I also have a microwave.
The interior is designed to maximize every space, with a Jensen AM/FM stereo, 12-volt TV, and a cozy seating area that converts into a full-size bed. It is also designed to convert to 2 single beds with space in between or a single bed across the back. Since most of my journeys are as a solo traveler, I don’t have to put away the bed during the day. I love that option!
The wet bath does serve its purpose, and I love being able to shower and use the bathroom without leaving the safety of my RV at night. The 320S comes equipped with a 19-gallon freshwater tank and an 18-gallon gray tank. The black tank is a 5-gallon cassette toilet. I’m not sure what I think of this yet. It hasn’t been a problem, with the long weekends, but I will update you on my thoughts after I have been on longer trips.
I have camped in temperatures in the high 90s and been very comfortable. The tab cools off quickly. The air conditioning and heat are delivered by a duct system so there isn’t a roof unit.
The hot water and heat are provided by a glycol heating system which kept me very warm on my recent trip to the mountains.
I have made modifications to the outside. Since there isn’t a place to store sewer hoses, I ordered this sewer hose container from Amazon. ( link https://amzn.to/4hEJAsR) and attached it with boat sealant. (Amazon link https://amzn.to/3Z03APi) which allows for movement. I didn’t want to drill holes in the exterior. I have made two trips on winding; mountain roads and it is still secure.
I also added a box to the front for more storage. (Amazon link https://amzn.to/3AAWx6p ) I haven’t decided whether I want one for the other side. I may use that area for a solar or propane generator for boondocking. The exact match for the center storage unit is called a Seabiscuit and is available from Amazon. (Amazon link https://amzn.to/3UNpUcC) The one I ordered was much less expensive and works well.
The 320S also has rugged tires and a pitched axel for rougher terrain. I plan on doing a lot of boondocking on BLM land and public land when I travel west.
I have a 12-volt battery that keeps the lights and refrigerator running without problems and an attached 180-watt solar panel on the roof.
Every problem I have had has been a user error. But, thanks to a wonderful Facebook group I joined, Woman Who NuCamp and Customer Service at NuCamp, I have solved those issues.
After a year of ownership, if you would you ask me if I would buy a NuCamp 320S again? My answer would be yes. I am 100% satisfied.
I am including their web page so you can look at the options. https://nucamprv.com
