Traveling Alone & Staying Safe

What are some options?

When I told my friends and family, I was buying a small RV so that I could start traveling, I got the same response from almost everyone.  You’re going alone?  Aren’t you scared?

Well, at first, I did consider it, but since I’ve gotten older, I find myself more aware of my surroundings even when I’m out shopping.  How different could it be?  I would do my research about campgrounds and the areas I would be traveling to, and my little camper has a lock.

I started thinking about what I could do to make my adventures safer.   Now, it makes me smile when I think about it because I think my camper is safer than my house.

Here are a few things to help you feel more secure.

1.       Outdoor Security Cameras – There are many available   Some of them need to be wired.  I didn’t want to drill numerous holes in my Azdel exterior and run wiring, so I went with a wireless solar model, so I’d only have one area to attach.  https://amzn.to/4fSgvbY

2.      Bear Blow Horn – This could scare away someone trying to sneak around your site as well as coming in handy on a trail for bears! I have the small can because I keep it in my door and also carry it with me on the trails. Amazon link https://amzn.to/3YkGO4i

3.      Taser – Some even double as a flashlight and are loaded with pepper spray.

4.      Pepper Spray – It can be purchased in a can or even as a wristlet.  I wear one of these while hiking.  Amazon link https://amzn.to/4h67oG2

5.      Kinetic Launcher – This is a non-lethal kinetic projectile launcher that looks like a handgun.  You can purchase one that comes with pepper spray loaded into the projectiles. I haven’t purchased one yet but, this is the one I want. https://amzn.to/4hV7iRZ

Planning meet-ups with new friends provide additional safety. I think this is a great idea for companionship while allowing the privacy and quiet of having your own RV.

There are many options for woman who want to explore the county traveling alone.  With just the options I’ve listed above, I don’t think we would have any problems with any man or beast we may meet.

Please leave a comment and share what you do to stay safe.

Have fun & stay safe!
